The Battleaxes is a stunning Free house pub nestled in Wraxall, North Somerset.

Constructed in 1838, The Battleaxes was originally built as a meeting place for the workers of the nearby Tyntesfield Estate.

Set in a characterful Grade II listed building along the main Bristol Road, The Battleaxes was lovingly, sympathetically, and imaginatively restored in September 2010. Exuding a playful eccentricity that is Cluedo country house meets traditional country pub.

Open all day, The Battleaxes Inn is at your service, whether for morning coffee, light lunch, 3-course dinner or just a glass of wine. Our six boutique guest rooms are finished to a very high quality and provide that little touch of luxury everybody deserves.

“We have always enjoyed the atmosphere and hospitality of the Battleaxes and our Valentine's meal was no exception. Excellent sharing platter starter and beautifully cooked and presented main courses. The wine was also delightful. Many thanks to all the staff who were attentive but not pushy.”
